7/20/15 (Monday)
Cloudy and overcast but not raining, YET! We had a chance to dry out a little, stick some things in the dryer, take a shower, eat some breakfast and rearrange the crazy car. Beginning to wonder where Dad is going to sit when he gets here on Thursday. They were calling for more storms mid morning, so I dried the damp sleeping bags and put them in the car, re-staked the tents and off we went to the City Museum.
We got there early which totally paid off because we got some outside time in before the skies opened! This museum is definitely the coolest open ended play-space that I have ever seen. I really liked that it involved so much climbing, exploring, testing out things and 1970’s playground danger. I don’t think I said no to the kids once today. We were there for 5 hours!!!!!! (We did take a 20 minute AC break in the car and ate some lunch). You two were sweaty, tired and so jazzed about the whole place. We climbed, we slide, we spun. And what is amazing is that they were still building and adding on to the place (it is an old shoe factory, so they have plenty of room).
The sun came out and they opened up the outside spaces again and we went up to the roof. Jack you were funny because you went right to the ferris wheel on the roof, but then you did not like it when we were on it. Kind of scared of heights I think. The bus on the roof (that hung part way off ) was freaky.

After the City Museum we headed to the Arch. Which was the dutiful tourist attraction. They were redoing the park that Dad said was nice, so we couldn’t explore there, but that was okay because you two were exhausted. Going up the Arch was interesting, we got in these little pod things and went to the top, 630 feet up. Jack you didn’t even want to look out the windows.
Then we were off to Ted Drewes for some great custard. It came highly recommended (thanks, Sue) & after eating it I could see why. You both got things that your eyes said you could handle but your stomachs thought other wise about ¾ of the way through. But they were still awesome and at least you knew not to eat until you were sick. Asher your Banana Split was huge! Jack you got something with caramel and a huge brownie in it. I got a S'more concrete.
Back to the campsite for some pool fun and a down evening. Pulling out of here tomorrow morning to drive 5 hours to the OZ Museum and then to Salina (another hour) to camp for the night (in a cabin). Hopefully it will be great weather & an uneventful drive.
I absolutely LOVED spending today with you two. You are growing up way to fast & this trip makes me slow down and enjoy some more of the moments with you (Asher your becoming my game buddy – UNO and Spot It).
