(Written yesterday, posted today because of internet connection).
Yesterday we drove from Kansas City to St. Louis. We had a great lazy morning at our hotel, got in the car and drove for about 4 hours. After Wednesday (and compared to tomorrow) that felt like quick.
We got to our campground and immediately hopped in the pool. Boy can we feel the humidity as we travel east. I love the heat (summer is my favorite season) but I could definitely do without the humidity. Anyway, the plan was for the boys to go to the movies and for me to wander aimlessly around Target. I was invited to the movies but opted for the alone time to get my thoughts together for what needs to be done when I get home. One of the things I love about these trips are that I really live in the moment, which I struggle with at home. But as we begin to wrap up the trip I am now back to making lists and thinking about what I need to do in the next few weeks before the new school year starts.
Anyway, after the early movie we came back to the campsite to have one last campground dinner. We then were off to bed, all of us excited about going to the City Museum again this year. Last year the boys loved this, but John wasn't with us. So this year we had to do it again and take John. Even though we explained the place to him I think that he was still amazed at the enormity and uniqueness of it all. I wore just the right pants this year. Last year I wore shorts (they recommend long pants because of all the slides), this year I wore my Under Armour workout tights and boy did I slide FAST! A few times I went a little too fast (although Asher told me too fast was not possible it just made it all more fun.
We were at the museum when they opened at 9 and left about 2pm. Amazingly enough we did not have to drag the kids out, they were exhausted. We hit Ted Drew's for lunch of custard (thanks again for the recommendation Sue). It is vacation after all. We then hit the road, 3 1/2 hours towards Indy and tomorrow we will travel the other 8 1/2 hours home. Pushing it to get home a day earlier than originally planned. This way I can ease back into reality a little with a day at the pool. As well as dealing with the fact that we have a wrecked car (fun times).
We have traveled a bit over 7,000 miles so far. It has been quite a month. I will probably post again once we get home to wrap all of this up for anyone interested.
