John is here, yeah!
We had a lazy morning at the hotel, ate breakfast, went swimming and then went to the airport to pick up your father. After we got Dad we went to Aunt Kathy’s house for a visit and then we were off to Breckenridge.
Our campsite was super basic, but with gorgeous views. We were on a lake and there was plenty of places to run and climb. Which put you right in your element Asher, you must of climbed the hill near us 3 times. We set up camp and got dinner started. Pizza pockets, pudgy pie style (yum!). You two were my sues chefs last night, cutting up strawberries and veggies. Jack you had the opportunity to really check out the stars with a clear sky and your telescope.
Today was fun, wet and rainy. We woke up this morning and all was good. We ate breakfast, packed up camp and hit the road to go have some fun at Breckenridge. The weather was great when we started off and we rode the Alpine Slide, the Bungee Trampoline, panned for gems, rode the Goldcoaster, rock wall clibing and had a snowball fight. Jack we rode together on the Alpine Slide once because it was not your favorite ride, but I drove and you videoed the ride which was cool (we will have to show Oma).
But it really started to cloud up and then about noon it started to rain. We rode the Gondola down the mountain and grabbed lunch in town hoping that the rain would clear up. However, we were not so lucky. We headed back up the mountain and braved a few more activities (most closed down because of the rain) just because we were there & what else were we going to do. You two skirted on a few other activities without getting your tags scanned, like the maze and rock-climbing.
But wait for it, the good stuff comes after 3pm. Because if you stick around and haven’t gotten full use out of your ticket on a rainy day (and they have shut down enough rides) you get a “rain check” for later this summer or next. We didn’t get full use out of 3 of the tickets because you two skirted on some of the rides, so when they looked it up on the computer we did not fully use our tickets so they were going to issue a rain check for 3 of them. Awesome! Then I was just chatting with the ticket lady only to find out she was from Maryland too. But not only that, she was from Carroll County. So, when I told her that is where I grew up we chatted a little more & then she issued us 4 rain checks, just because people from Carroll County need to stick together. Great, guess where we are going next summer!?!?!
After we left Breck we drove about 2 hours south to our campground. Nothing to exciting other then stopping at “Cora” to take a picture (those of you who know Jack well know one of his best friends is Cora).
Our night ended with snacky food for dinner since we had a huge lunch in Breckenridge trying to kill time because of the rain. We also made Jiffy Pop popcorn over the fire, that did not work out quite as planned, the pan caught fire & some popcorn escaped, but what was left was great.
