We were up early (hit the road at 7:30) and had camp packed up pretty quick this morning. Loving our pop-up tents. You guys are going to have this packing thing down by the end of the trip. You two are doing great at keeping track of your stuff in your backpacks (clothes) and your bins (books, ipad minis and games).
Today was a driving day with two short stops built in. It was suppose to be one but then Dad called and told us we should stop at the Hallmark Factory just as we were passing through Kansas City. You know me and factory tours. Great idea. Well, we got there and it wasn’t all that. A small self guided tour through a bunch of memorabilia. Oh well, live and learn. When I think of a factory tour I want something like the Herr’s Factory (real)!
A McDonald’s lunch on the road made up some of our lost time and got us to the Oz Museum about 2pm. Such a cute little town. A little mid-west Americana. Wide street, big sidewalks and about 2 blocks of western town store fronts. The museum was just what I thought it would be cute and little (not a lot), but gave us lots of background on the movie and the book.
Glad we had eaten lunch as one of the first places you spotted Asher was Toto’s Taco’s and all that came to my mind was dog meat (I don’t know why)?!
We were off again to our campground for the night (about another hour). What a great campground. I had booked a simple cabin (with beds) and it turned out to be awesome. We had an entire outside kitchen, as well as a porch swing. We had planned hotdogs wrapped with crescent rolls cooked over the fire for dinner tonight. However, cooked on the GAS GRILL (yeah) made things much more simple for me. Asher, you kept telling me that I was cheating. Don’t worry little boy we will get our fill of fires, cooking out and s’mores before this trip is over.
This was the perfect place for me to do some laundry and for you to start this blog Jack. Thank you so much for helping me set this up. Hopefully, you and your brother will be the ones doing some of the blogging as we go forward.
Tomorrow we are off to the Salt Mines and then we will drive 2-3 hours towards Denver. Not a lot to see between Kansas and Denver so we will see what we see.
