Yesterday we went to the Petrified Forest. There were hundreds of huge rocks like wood. All but one layer in the park is sedimentary rock. The sedimentary rock has a pro and a con. The pro is the rock has lots of fossils in it. The con is the rock is soft it will not preserve the fossils as well once they are found because it erodes fast. Well as I was saying the one layer that is not sedimentary rock is metamorphic which is a kind of molten rock. The trees became petrified because the were covered in mud and then the minerals in the ash infiltrated the trees life cells and they got crystallized. It is a nice place and I would want to go back.
